In your role as a contract Endurance Boat Driver, you will be out on the water recording events throughout the day on how well Mercury Marine engines are performing. During the development of marine engines and products, durability and endurance testing must be performed to create test data that aids in validating the intended performance of the product. This is where your expertise comes in. Bring your passion and knowledge to the boating industry and work with the undisputed leader in the Marine Industry as an Endurance Boat Driver! This role works a four day work week to give you a work/life balance as well. This role is a contract role, this role is not employed directly with Mercury Marine.

Requirements

  • Must be a self-starting, quick learning, and independent individual with a positive attitude and excellent work ethic.
  • Ability to drive a multitude of boats at various, potentially high, speeds in varying and sometimes harsh Florida water/weather conditions for a sustained period of time.
  • Must have a technical mind set and basic understanding of how internal combustion engines and marine propulsion systems work to be able to be "in tune" with the propulsion system being tested/monitored.
  • Ability to technically record/write observations made during tests.
  • Basic knowledge of computer data entry and data collection systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of US Coast Guard Boating laws.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Proven experience in the safe operation of watercraft products.
  • Current and valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Operate watercraft in accordance with engineering test procedures.
  • Evaluate the total functionality of the propulsion system from a perspective of: Performance Noise, Vibration and Harshness Driveability Human/Machine Interface Graphical User Interface Ergonomic Interface
  • Record technical observations in logs, and/or electronic data storage/collection systems as requested for our marine engines and related products.
  • Maintenance of facility, grounds, and all test equipment including routine cleaning duties.
  • Provide detailed and concise verbal and written communication.
  • Perform all work in accordance with site safety policies and participate in safety meetings.
