About The Position

Endoscopy Technician Part Time- First Shift (24-hours) Surgical Dept. I Lexington, KY Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department. Description: Under the general direction of the Registered Nurse, assists the Endoscopy team with procedures, including assisting with reprocessing of endoscopes, performance of procedures, and assisting in the preparation of patients for Endoscopy. Sets up the procedural area with supplies and equipment based upon requirements for the endoscopic procedure following aseptic technique. Cleans up and closes down the room after the procedure following aseptic Technique. Assists in preparing the patient. Assist in hooking patient up to monitoring devices; BP, EKG, SAO2. Orient’s patient and significant other(s) to environment, ie: bathroom, waiting room, etc. Assists the physician with scopes, accessories, and specimen collection during procedures. Assists with patient transport to and from procedure room. Assists in positioning patient for specific procedure. Coaches’ patient through procedure as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One to Two years Patient Care Experience as a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Surgical Assistant or other equivalent position
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date
  • On-call responsibilities associated with this position

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Endoscopy experience
  • Surgical Scrub Technician certification

Responsibilities
