Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 6 months in some aspect of healthcare.
  • Ability to walk, sit, and stand for long periods
  • Visual and auditory acuity for frequent use of computer, telephone, and occasional use of other office equipment
  • Capability for occasional overhead and low reaching
  • Physical strength for equipment needs and patient care activities
  • Visual and auditory acuity for timely responsiveness
  • Ability to move quickly in response to patient needs
  • Ability to frequently make judgments on/respond to problems
  • Ability to occasionally make judgments on/respond to disasters/emergencies, actual events, or drills

Responsibilities

  • Assists physicians with GI procedures in the role of the technician
  • Maintains endoscopic instruments and accessories in working order.
  • Maintains a clean and safe patient care environment
  • Implements and follows infection control procedures according to the Endoscopy Center’s policy and SGNA guidelines, while following policy for cleaning and disinfection of equipment and environment.
  • Maintains appropriate levels of supplies in the procedure rooms.
  • Is responsible for notifying the Quality Director when supplies need to be ordered and reporting supply levels to the Charge Nurse.
  • Collects specimens and records collections in the appropriate logs.
  • Appropriate use of personal protective equipment.
  • Performs duties in a cost-effective manner, in an effort to avoid waste without jeopardizing quality of care and service.
  • Assist with the admission process as needed.
  • Assists with room turnover and front-end turnover as well as ensuring the bathrooms are clean at all times.
  • Supports and upholds the policies of the Endoscopy Center.
  • Monitor and organize the environment and supplies in the procedure area to ensure patient safety and quality of care
  • Other duties as assigned.
