About The Position

The Endoscopy Technician’s number one job responsibility is to deliver the most remarkable patient experience, in every dimension, every time, and understand how he or she contributes to excellent patient care. The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for assisting with patient care under the direction and supervision of a nurse.

Requirements

  • Must have one of the following:
  • Graduate of Surgical Technology program or military equivalent
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program
  • Register as a Certified Nursing Assistant II with the NC Board of Nursing
  • Candidates hired with Endoscopy or Surgical Assisting experience only must obtain one the above credentials within six months of hire.
  • Current BLS certification
  • Has the ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs and is able to modify patient care accordingly.
  • Good physical and mental fitness to meet the demand of job duties.
  • Requires constant standing and walking, finger dexterity to handle and manipulate endoscopy equipment.
  • May require lifting or moving up to 50 lbs.
  • Practices good body mechanics.
  • Supportive and cooperative attitude is essential.
  • Job duties may lead to exposure to blood borne pathogens and hazardous chemicals.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous endoscopy technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with patient care in the Endoscopy Center under the direction of the nurses and the physicians.
  • Practices effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Maintains clinical and professional competency according to policy, procedure, and protocols and as appropriate for the ages of patients served.
  • Performs job duties in compliance with established safety and infection control standards.
  • Processes endoscopy equipment and instruments per policy.
