OK-SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital - Oklahoma City Worker Type: Regular Job Summary: Functions as a member of the endoscopic health care team to create a continuous environment of improvement for patient safety and staff competency in specialty skills in order to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
  • Three years' experience
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor - The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)

Responsibilities

  • Assists the endoscopic health care team during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as assigned.
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for own practice, continuing education and competency related to the field of endoscopy/gastroenterology, e.g., staff in-service, staff meetings, BLS certification.
  • Maintains working knowledge of all video endoscopy systems.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of orientation programs, serves as a preceptor and mentor to new staff and shares expertise and knowledge with team members.
  • Assesses staff competency and assists with annual competency training and aides in staff development.
  • Evaluates the educational needs of staff and assists with setting up in-services to meet the educational needs.
  • Assists with and co-manages the surveillance of scope cleaning and microbiological surveillance and performs daily monitoring and documentation of liquid chemical sterilant.
  • Coordinates meetings with sales representatives for the purchase of equipment and for staff training and coordinates, manages, and reports on department product evaluations.
  • Manages and maintains oversight of supply management, special order supplies and equipment for endoscopy in an effort to save cost.
  • Maintains oversight of the completion of all records and oversight of equipment breakdown and repair.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
