About The Position

Works under the supervision of the Director of Surgical Services or designee. Assists endoscopy and surgical teams before, during, and after surgery by performing the following duties. Requirements

  • High school diploma (or Equivalent Certificate from an accredited program) or higher degree
  • WY Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)license, or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or WY Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license.
  • Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within 14 calendar days of start date

  • Experience in healthcare setting
  • Able to identify and select the instruments and equipment necessary for most surgical procedures and picks cases appropriately
  • Knowledge of supplies, instruments, and equipment and when they are used in surgery
  • Able to maintain strict aseptic techniques
  • Able to maintain on call rotation

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and selects the instruments and equipment necessary for endoscopy procedures.
  • Maintains strict aseptic technique.
  • Assists the proceduralist during the procedure.
  • Anticipates needs to expedite the procedure thereby minimizing the patient’s exposure to trauma.
  • Properly maintains sterile instruments and adheres to proper sterilization techniques according to department policy.
  • Maintains competency in scope cleaning, storage, management and handling.
  • Assists with room turnover and cleaning after each case.
  • Restocks operating rooms as needed.
  • Collaborates with and assists professional staff as needed.
  • Transports patients to and from surgery after checking the chart for appropriate documentation.
  • Assist the OR RN with patient care, , transfer of patients to and from bed, position and prep, opening sterile supplies, apply monitor leads, and transport equipment to and from the room.
  • Handles equipment, instruments, and supplies appropriately to prevent damage or loss.
