The Endoscopy Technician provides care based on the age-related needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with consideration of their developmental/psychosocial needs, environmental safety, educational needs, communication style and level of understanding. Responsible for collection, decontamination, processing, tracking, assembly of instruments, supplies, and equipment needed for patient care in the GI Lab. Maintains scope processers as per established manufacturer's guidelines. Cleans instruments and rooms, sets up for cases, monitors inventory and stocks GI rooms. Collaborates with other members of the health care team to ensure optimal patient care is provided. Responsible for providing transportation of patients for GI procedures. Responsible for assigned patient care tasks under the direction of licensed care providers. Accepts patient medications from pharmacy or tube station and gives directly to the charge nurse or assigned nurse.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited program or formal structured program (i.e. military service), Nursing degree (LVN/LPN) from an accredited school of nursing, or equivalent years of GI procedural experience preferred.
  • A minimum of one year current experience as a Surgical Technician in G.I. procedures preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Current BLS required.
