The Encounter Specialist Urgent Care position is a full-time role within the WFBMG Wake Forest Health Network: High Point Westchester Med Plz - Immediate Care department. This role is integral to providing collaborative patient care, involving participation in daily Care Team Huddles and comprehensive patient record review. Responsibilities include abstracting pertinent medical data, noting issues for provider discussion, greeting and escorting patients, obtaining vital signs, and meticulously assessing and reconciling medication regimens and allergies. The specialist engages patients in conversations about their health, identifies gaps in care, and prepares charts with relevant data for providers. During the exam, the specialist remains in the room to enter findings, provider notes, orders, and plan of care instructions, including prescriptions. They are also responsible for providing patient instructions, educational materials, and directing patients for follow-up scheduling. The role encompasses documenting all patient interactions in the electronic medical record and fulfilling additional patient care duties such as organizing patient flow, assisting with transfers, and collecting specimens. Clerical tasks like managing medical records, facilitating referrals, completing forms, scheduling appointments, and insurance verification are also part of the job. Professional growth is encouraged through participation in meetings and educational programs. The specialist must adhere to controlled substance regulations, practice universal precautions, and complete training in hierarchical condition category (HCC) coding.
