About The Position

This position is for an EMT, CMA, or LPN at the SSM Health Wellness clinic, with opportunities for Medical Assistants, Certified Medical Assistants, Registered Medical Assistants, EMTs, Paramedics, and LPNs. The role involves assisting in performing a variety of nursing care services for patients. Duties may include patient rooming, in-office procedure assistance, injection and vaccine administration, and general clinical administrative tasks using the Epic electronic medical record program. The primary location is Sun Prairie, WI, with possible shifts in Middleton, WI, and Verona, WI. Shifts are Monday through Friday, varying between 7:30 am and 6:00 pm, with no nights, weekends, or holidays. A well-qualified candidate will be comfortable with hands-on patient care, open to new experiences and challenges, ambitious, motivated, and sympathetic.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a school of medical assisting (for MA, CMA, RMA candidates)
  • WI license for EMTs, Paramedics, or LPNs
  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) - Wisconsin Department of Health Services OR Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Intermediate - Wisconsin Department of Health Services OR Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Wisconsin Department of Health Services

Responsibilities

  • Receive patient care assignments from the registered nurse (RN) in charge.
  • Initiate delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence in performing nursing activities for specific patient age groups.
  • Collect and document patient data for reassessment.
  • Document and provide appropriate data to the Physician, RN, and/or LPN for analysis and validation of patient’s response to care or treatment, and when significant changes occur.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate lead placement for routine cardiac monitoring and 12 lead EKG.
  • Perform 12 lead EKG on patients according to policy and procedures.
  • Assist physician and nursing staff with medical procedures.
  • Stock and maintain supplies and equipment.
  • Turn over rooms after each patient use, including cleaning, changing sheets, restocking, disposing of trash, and managing instrument trays.
  • Assist with delegated clerical duties such as answering telephones, relaying messages, transcribing physician orders, and organizing patient medical records.
  • Prepare patients for discharge or completion of visit and accompany them upon dismissal.
  • Transport patients to a receiving department or facility if indicated.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Perform patient rooming.
  • Administer injections and vaccines.
