About The Position

Supervises and is part of a shift that provides basic and advanced life support assistance for the care and treatment of sick and injured person(s).

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, supplemented by two (2) years of experience as a paramedic; or have an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Must be able to utilize Microsoft Office products and to learn additional software as required.
• Requires a valid Florida Paramedic license.
• Certification(s) in CPR, ACLS and EVOC is required.
• Requires a valid driver license.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's Degree with coursework emphasis in Public Safety, Emergency Medicine, Paramedic Sciences or Technology, Emergency Management, or closely related field is preferred.
• Supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and directs duties of assigned staff.
• Reviews and evaluates work performance; makes recommendation for improvement and change; provides training sessions.
• Participates in interviewing prospective employees.
• Maintains positive working relationships with local and regional public safety agencies.
• Participates in providing basic and advanced life support; may be required to drive an ambulance in a variety of conditions and in response to an emergency call; may assist with control of scene and non-injured parties.
• Makes presentations at schools, civic groups, and other public safety agencies.
• Ensures that adequate supplies are maintained.
• Completes all reports and forms associated with patient care.
• Responds to inquiries and complaints from the public, other county employees and officials, representatives of civic organizations, and representatives of the media.
• Responds to both local and regional disaster incidents.
• Participates in the care and upkeep of equipment (i.e., response vehicle, life support, and personal protective equipment).
• Ensures all required certifications for operations staff are valid and current.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
