I. ACCOUNTABILITIES AND JOB ACTIVITIES: Leads and coordinates the day-to-day operational oversight of the Advocate Sherman Greater Elgin Area Emergency Medical System (GEAEMSS), which provides pre-hospital emergency care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to 15 EMS agencies with approximately 700 EMS personnel and one Associate Hospital 1.Coordinates the implementation and maintenance of Quality Assurance Programs for the GEAEMSS. The results of which provide feedback for process improvement and educational opportunities. 2.Develops and maintains the EMS System Policies and procedures according to System and State policy. 3.Maintains effective communication and working relationships with EMS personnel, chief's, hospital departments, and regional/state partners. 4.Oversight of all licensures/re-licensures for appropriate hours and approves for submission 5.Review and investigates Variance Reports and provides feedback to all parties. 6.Oversight of EMS vehicle transport/non-Transport inspections. 7.Advancing the EMS System in accordance with profession best-practices and building the business of the System. 8.Collaborates with ED Leadership and hospital Leadership maintaining working relationship. 9.Oversight of the EMS System Entry process and approves new EMS personnel and ECRN's for system participation. Implements and maintains the EMS System Quality Improvement Program for EMS 15 % 1.Coordinates the collection and reporting of state mandated quality improvement data to the state of Illinois for both EMS and Trauma. 2.Coordinates quality improvement information to benefit the educational needs of the EMS care providers. 3.Oversees and approves the EMS System Supply list and mandatory equipment; supervises ambulance inspections and re-licensure as per IDPH requirement. 4.Conducts investigations responding to requests for clarifications. 5.Integrates potential quality and safety concerns and performance improvement initiatives to guide monthly provider CE. Coordinates the educational needs of the approximately 700 EMS providers and ED RN’s. This includes the educational needs of Paramedics, EMT, Emergency Medical Dispatchers (EMD), Emergency Communication Registered Nurses (ECRN), Trauma Nurse Specialists (TNS) and medical staff related to EMS. 15 % 1.Oversees and leads the development and implementation of the annual EMS system education, based on National guidelines, performance improvement initiatives, and EMS System needs 2.Oversees and participates as needed in the EMS System continuing education classes and training program classes 3.Participate in monthly trauma, EDAP meetings as indicated and any other meetings involved in related Emergency Service activities 4.Provide education and collaboration with ED physicains related to EMS. 5.Actively participate in monthly Advocate Emergency Preparedness Committees 6.Provide EMS support services for Emergency Prep, EDAP and other Emergency Services Meetings. 7.Participates in Paramedic Training Course education through dissemination, validation, instruction, and remediation of information. Provides direct leadership and supervision of the "Clinical" staff of the EMS Dept. (CE Coordinator, EMS Educators and Paramedic Course Coordinator). 15 % 1.Performs staff development, coaching, and performance reviews. 2.Develops annual goal development for the department and implements with approval from Supervisor. 3.Assists Supervisor in developing team culture, cohesiveness, and standards of behavior. 4.Assists Supervisor with budget development and tracking. 5.Performs interviews and makes hiring decisions for clinical staff. Leads, facilitates, or participates in EMS System, hospital, regional, and state committees 10 % 1.Leads EMS System Liaison Meetings 2.Assists the EMS Medical Director in facilitating the EMS System Chief's Meeting. 3.Participates in various hospital/system committees as identified. 4.Participates in various regional and/or state meetings as identified. Coordinates community outreach programs as they relate to GEAEMSS/Advocate Sherman Hospital and the communities we serve. 5 % 1.Liason for hospital-based programs that interface Advocate Sherman Hospital with EMS. 2.Coordinates GEAEMSS in community health fair participation. 3.Assists in the development of educational programs for the communities’ volunteer emergency rescue workers.
