About The Position

YWCA Cass Clay is currently hiring a full-time Empowerment Coach. The Empowerment Coach will walk alongside YWCA participants as they work toward economic independence and stability. This position involves providing individualized job coaching and employment-related services to YWCA participants, assisting them in identifying and achieving their job and educational goals. The Empowerment Coach collaborates with YWCA staff and community partners to ensure participants have access to resources that help them overcome barriers and gain economic empowerment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate's in Behavioral Sciences or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of work.
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of unique challenges for those who have experienced domestic violence and homelessness.
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred.
  • Must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with proof of current insurance and an insurable record.
  • Meet all background check requirements.
  • An understanding of, appreciation for, and support of the mission of the YWCA Cass Clay.

Responsibilities

  • Assess participants’ skills, interests, employment history, and employment barriers (e.g., education gaps, work history gaps, transportation challenges) and connect them with appropriate employment resources and opportunities.
  • Assist participants with resume building, job applications, interview preparations, and navigating job services while providing constructive feedback and coaching throughout the job search process.
  • Connect participants with essential resources and provide direct assistance with tasks such as obtaining vital documents, accessing GED or job training programs, securing childcare or transportation, completing benefits applications, and building basic financial literacy and other life skills.
  • Foster self-esteem and confidence in participants by helping them recognize their skills and providing continuous support and encouragement as they move through the employment process.
  • Understand and be sensitive to the unique needs of survivors of domestic violence, ensuring that case management is trauma-informed and participant-centered.
  • Organize and conduct job-readiness workshops focused on resume writing, interviewing skills, workplace communications, and other topics to enhance employability.
  • Collect participant data, maintain accurate records, track outcomes, and assist in completing required reports in a timely and organized manner.
  • Make program-related purchases and ensure all expenses are reasonable, allowable, and within approved budgets.
  • Maintain Empowerment Centers and distribute Education & Employment donations to ensure participants have access to employment materials, opportunities, and resources at each YWCA location.
  • Support the overall operation of YWCA Programs by participating in meetings, trainings, and collaborative efforts that promote participant safety and well-being.
  • Support the safety and security of YWCA facilities by appropriately responding to phones, door buzzers, locks, security system, and fire alarms, and by following all established safety and emergency protocols.
  • Cultivate relationships with local employers, vocational training programs, educational institutions, and other partners to provide participants with job opportunities, internships, or training, and facilitate connections that support long-term employment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with volunteer instructors who teach Education & Employment classes, ensuring they have the support and information needed to provide quality learning experiences.
  • Coordinate, update, and communicate the Education & Employment class schedule across all YWCA locations, ensuring staff and participants receive timely information about available classes.
  • Assist in shift coverage as necessary.
  • Participate in OnCall rotation.
  • Prompt and reliable attendance is required.
  • Provide current certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Other duties as assigned.
