About The Position

As West Shore Home’s in-house Employment Counsel, you will serve as a subject matter expert regarding employment-related matters, handle various types of employment-related disputes, draft employment related policies and procedures, amongst other Legal responsibilities.

Requirements

• JD degree from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and in good standing.
• Minimum of 7 years substantive employment experience with a corporate legal department or law firm handling employment matters before federal courts, state courts, and administrative agencies.
• Excellent working knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to ADA, ADEA, FMLA, PWFA, FLSA, etc.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assesses legal risks and opportunities within the employment area and advise accordingly to ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
• Provide counsel and advice on employment related matters, including but not limited to employee relations issues; discipline and terminations; FMLA, ADA, and PWFA leave and accommodation requests; wage and hour laws; leave and sick laws; workers’ compensation, unemployment compensation, and other claims; compensation plans; employee benefits; job postings; offers of employment; employment agreements; separation agreements; and other matters related to the onboarding and offboarding of employees.
• Handle and/or participate in employment related proceedings, hearings, litigation, mediations, and arbitrations, including handling the responses to subpoenas and other document requests.
