About The Position

Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest's largest and most accomplished law firms, is seeking a talented employment attorney with litigation experience to join our Bloomfield Hills, Michigan office. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney looking to build and expand a sophisticated employment law practice within a well-established and highly respected firm. Our Labor & Employment Law Practice Group represents employers in a wide range of industries and provides strategic counseling and litigation defense on complex and high-stakes matters. We are seeking a versatile attorney who is comfortable both in the courtroom and in a trusted advisor role, helping clients navigate evolving employment laws and workplace challenges. Position Overview The successful candidate will handle a broad spectrum of employment matters, including litigation in state and federal courts, administrative agency proceedings, and day-to-day counseling on compliance and risk management. This role offers substantial client interaction, responsibility and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to client strategy and business development initiatives. We are looking for a well-rounded, entrepreneurial attorney who thrives in a collaborative yet competitive environment. The ideal candidate will be proactive, strategic and client-focused, with a strong work ethic and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. A commitment to delivering practical, business-oriented legal solutions is essential.

Requirements

  • Two to five years of experience handling employment law matters, including labor and employment litigation
  • Experience advising employers on compliance with federal and state employment laws, workplace policies, investigations and best practices
  • Strong experience in all aspects of litigation, including drafting pleadings, managing discovery, taking and defending depositions, and arguing motions
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain strong client relationships
  • Exceptional analytical, writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan
