About The Position

This position involves providing transportation for Mohonk employees to and from the Sawmill Park trailer area to the Mohonk Main House, and to and from New Paltz, New York on a regularly scheduled basis. The role also includes other assigned transportation duties, emphasizing courteous and helpful service.

Requirements

  • Possess and maintain a valid drivers license in New York State.
  • Maintain a record of driving infractions with points lower than 10 according to the stipulations of our insurance carriers (RHA) coding of points for driving infractions.
  • Valid New York State Drivers license, free of moving violations at the commencement of employment for at least three years.
  • Ability to work 11 hours per day, starting at 6 am, including one unpaid hour off for lunch.
  • Ability to lift items of 40 pounds into a vehicle.
  • Ability to assist passengers with need for assistance into and out of a vehicle.
  • Ability to be comfortable driving in inclement weather, including rain and snow.

Responsibilities

  • Provide transportation for Mohonk employees to and from the Sawmill Park trailer area to the Mohonk Main House.
  • Provide transportation for Mohonk employees to and from New Paltz New York on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Perform other transportation duties as assigned.
  • Provide service with a smile on a consistent basis.
  • Avoid any conversation that might be interpreted as inappropriate by passengers.
  • Drive in a manner that is pleasurable for passengers and safe for both passengers, pedestrians and other motorists.
  • Avoid sudden stops, rapid acceleration.
  • Drive courteously.
  • Be as available as possible for coverage should the other driver be unavailable.
  • Follows provided schedule for pick-ups and drop-offs unless directed otherwise by supervisory staff, including Director of Human Resources, Employment Manager, Assistant Employment Manager, and Training Manager.
  • Help, when needed, employees in entering and exiting the vehicle, as well as helping to place carry-on items in the vehicle.
  • Have a high level of comfort driving a van in inclement weather, including snow and rain.
  • Clean the vehicle at the conclusion of each shift, inside and outside.
  • Make the vehicle ready to be used in situations when there is snow by cleaning the snow off the windshield, side windows, rear windows and entry doors.
  • Report to the Director of Human resources any problems that arise regarding anything, including passenger issues, mechanical issues with the vehicle, or anything else.
  • Call the Director of Human Resources at home at least two hours before the shift is to begin, if unable to start your shift on time, to enable the arrangement for a replacement driver, since staff will be waiting outdoor for the shuttle to arrive.
  • Be sensitive to the preferences of passengers regarding music and/or conversation in the vehicle.
