About The Position

To lead HR Employee Relations to actively participate in establishing positive employee relations within the Company. This includes actively leading and supporting the activities and staff involved in developing and maintaining employee relation activities, policies, and procedures. Maintains and promotes effective employee relations objectives and programs, which support the attainment of company objectives through proper utilization of human resources. This role is to evolve into a force for continuous improvement of employee morale while maintaining orderly utilization of human capital through ensuring Company policies and procedures are adhered to.

Requirements

  • Personnel and Human Resources:Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems
  • Administration and Management: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Customer and Personal Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Law and Government: Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process
  • Psychology: Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differencesin ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders
  • Bachelor’s degreerequired;Business Administration,Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior/Psychology, or a closely related major preferred; advanced degree in a related field preferred
  • Several years of relevant HR experiencerequired; 2+ years of managerial experience preferred;previousexperience in the manufacturing industry desired
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Active Listening & Speaking: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions asappropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times; talking to others to convey information effectively
  • Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning toidentifythe strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions,conclusionsor approaches to problems
  • Social Perceptiveness: Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do
  • Management of Personnel Resources: Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work,identifyingthe best people for the job
  • Reading Comprehension: Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
  • Must be able tofrequentlymove about the manufacturing plant campus, general office environments, production areas, and occasionally ascend/descend stairs.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Must be able tooperatea computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Must be able to positionself to filedocuments including the top and bottom drawers of file cabinets.
  • Must be able to occasionally moveoffice equipment and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the interpretation and implementation of established human resources policies and procedures throughout the company
  • Leads the overall direction of the Company employee relations, and ensures compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity regulations
  • Up-to-date information on regulations and laws affecting employee relations
  • Assistsin promoting and enhancing the Company’s image
  • Participates in community affairs andrepresentsthe company in professional organizations
  • Develops and recommends programs for the establishment of performance standards for employees
  • Assistsin developing methods forestablishingstandards for hourly & salaried personnel
  • Analyse issues such as absenteeism, leave status, consistent policy application, safety, productivity, etc. todetermineemployee relations climate and to drive approved recommendations for improvement
  • Leads and drives the development and coordination of programs and plans to improve employee morale and ensure employee involvement
  • Recommends and coordinates training and management development activities
  • Comply withand actively support the health, safety, and environmental programs, policies, and procedures of the Company
  • Must effectivelyutilizetime and prioritize activities to ensure at least 50% of time is spent on workforce development and morale enhancement
  • Mustoperateas an advocate for both employees and the Company consistent with Company policies, external laws and regulations and common sense
  • Leads internal investigations and auditsregardingcompliance with external laws, regulations, and applicable Company policies.
  • Follows Company policies and procedures inassistingwith employment determinations.
  • Performadditionalduties as assigned by management.
