About The Position

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Employee Occupational Health Nurse team. The Employee Occupational Health Nurse Advisor role independently triages work related health and safety illness/injury, questions, and concerns from health care workers. Utilizes excellent customer service skills, clinical expertise, protocols, and resources to provide appropriate interventions. The call line is staffed twenty-four hours a day with set day and evening hours. There are requirements for after-hours, weekends, and holidays to meet urgent employee needs. This is an on-call–only position that participates exclusively in the night rotation. The role covers urgent calls outside of normal call-line hours, including BBFE and Infection Prevention intake calls, as well as communicable disease reports.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Nursing
  • 2 years experience in occupational health nursing or in an area of nursing requiring independent nursing skills, i.e. public health nursing, ICU nursing, leadership etc.
  • Computer skills sufficient to work with emails, electronic medical records, Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint
  • Familiarity with Windows products to create Word and Excel documents, save, upload documents, fax, print, scan etc.
  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License Ability to obtain licensure in other states as needed
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)

Responsibilities

  • Independently Triage Phone Calls: Demonstrates knowledge and expertise in triaging callers properly such that all callers receive a timely and appropriate response.
  • Completes timely documentation and identified outcomes
  • Assess employee, manager, and organization needs: Involves employee, manager, and representatives of other disciplines as appropriate in gathering data.
  • Determines if health/wellness goals impact or are impacted by laws, regulations, standards of practice, community best practices
  • Responds appropriately to emergent situations
  • Develops an individualized plan of care to achieve desired outcomes: Develops a plan of care consistent with medical standards based on organization and employee needs
  • Determines intervention and or recommendations based on relevant needs
  • Identifies and utilizes appropriate internal and external resources
  • Implements nursing interventions
  • Assists employee and manager with work related issues
  • Coordinates appropriate care, treatment and follow up of work-related health considerations based on knowledge of specific regulations, industry practices, work tasks and work environments
  • Documents all interventions
  • Evaluates plan of care: Systematically and continuously evaluates employee response to interventions
  • Modifies intervention based on employee response
  • Involves manager, representatives of other disciplines and external resources as appropriate
