About The Position

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity as an Occupational Health Specialist at Montana State Hospital. The Employee Health Nurse provides direct services to employees at Montana State Hospital, specializing in employee health, focusing on preventing injuries and illnesses, and promoting a healthy work environment. This position will perform a variety of tasks, including managing employee health programs such as immunizations, TB screening and respiratory protection (including fit testing and medical evaluations), monitoring workplace exposures, and provides follow-up care and guidance as needed. This position will also support the return-to-work process for illness. This position will also serve as the Program Administrator for the MSH Respiratory Protection Program. This position collaborates regularly with multiple departments across MSH operations. This position will report jointly to MSH's Education and Wellness Director and MSH Director of Nursing. Requirements

  • Knowledge of medical practices and nursing procedures.
  • Strong presentation and writing skills including knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, the meaning and spelling of the words, rules of competition and grammar.
  • Ability to research, compile, and analyze data from multiple sources to identify and resolve a wide variety of issues and problems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to coach and motivate others to improve their knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to be understanding and remain nonconfrontational, while maintaining focus, demeanor and composure in dealing with individuals with differing points of view.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment when solving problems.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and multiple projects.
  • Ability to build trust and credibility in working relationships.
  • Ability to use software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Well organized with good attention to detail.
  • Registered Nurse
  • Minimum of three years clinical nursing experience
