About The Position

The Employee Health Nurse manages employee health surveillance programs, including immunizations, screenings, recordkeeping, and education, to support DHHS personnel safety and regulatory compliance. The position contributes to safety initiatives, emergency preparedness, data collection, and continuous program improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing with 3 years’ experience in employee health or occupational health setting
  • Must possess current TX RN unrestricted license
  • BLS certification
  • must possess a valid Texas Driver’s license and be insurable
  • Must be able to pass a post offer drug screening and criminal history background check
  • Knowledge of infection prevention principles and communicable disease control
  • Knowledge of immunization requirements, vaccine administration practices, and screening protocols
  • Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements applicable to employee health programs such as CDC, ACIP, OSHA, and NIOSH
  • Knowledge of occupational health and employee health nursing practices in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of employee health record management and privacy requirements (HIPAA, organizational policy)
  • Knowledge of Quality Improvement methods and processes
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel)
  • Proficiency in collecting, documenting, and tracking data in various databases
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to assess health risks and apply appropriate infection control measures
  • Ability to deliver culturally competent health education
  • Ability to adapt to program development and expanding responsibilities
  • Ability to accomplish the quality and quantity of work expected within set limits
  • Ability to effectively engage stakeholders through clear, respectful, and solution-oriented communication that promotes compliance and shared accountability

Responsibilities

  • Track compliance with required immunizations and screenings and communicate reminders and follow-up needs to employees and supervisors
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to implement, monitor, and track pre-employment and annual employee health requirements for healthcare personnel
  • Organize, coordinate, and support immunization and annual screening activities in alignment with CDC, ACIP, and state guidance
  • Maintain confidential health records in the designated Employee Health Record system in compliance with policy and privacy standards
  • Provide employee education on infection prevention, communicable diseases, immunizations, and screening requirements
  • Support employee training related to workplace safety, exposure prevention, and emergency response as workplace health services expand
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support vaccine administration, titers, and documentation
  • Participate in infection prevention, quality improvement, and other committees related to employee health and alignment of workplace health practices.
  • Monitor work-related injuries, illnesses, and exposure trends to recommend prevention strategies
  • Support data collection and reporting for employee health metrics and program evaluation
  • Responsible for ongoing development and expansion of the Employee Health Program
  • Support and collaborate on policy and procedure or workplace health protocols development
  • Participates in the Pueblo Emergency Management Plan as it relates to employee health
  • Other duties as assigned and required
