About The Position

This role informs, inspires, empowers and connects our employee audience through effective and professional internal communications. The Specialist creates, curates, and coordinates digital and in-person communication content through our formal employee channels in alignment with NMDP’s Employee Experience Communication Strategy. They help lead the measurement, reporting, and communications improvement/evolution planning toward more impactful and effective employee communications over time.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of: Associated Press style guide and how to follow internal brand/style guides.
  • Knowledge of: Storytelling methods, techniques, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of: Digital communication design and content management tools and techniques, including professional presentations, digital creation and curation tools, blogs, podcasts, video, intranet, newsletters, embedded messaging, and others.
  • Knowledge of: Journalistic reporting and writing standards.
  • Knowledge of: Communication ethics and principles.
  • Ability to: Communicate at an expert level in written, visual, and spoken forms and formats.
  • Ability to: Collaborate with many different people and teams to identify, develop, edit, and publish quality content.
  • Ability to: Distill complex topics and craft clear, compelling messages, scripts, and copy.
  • Ability to: Operate within established standards and practices.
  • Ability to: Identify and advocate for process and quality improvements on behalf of your audiences, and your and your team’s work products.
  • Ability to: Prioritize and effectively manage multiple deliverables, deadlines, and requests for work and time.
  • Ability to: Problem-solve using different methods and approaches, fit to the situation and collaborators.
  • Ability to: Self-start and seek out work that provides value and makes an impact on our shared mission and goals.
  • Bachelor's degree. Upon evaluation, a combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Demonstrated success and 2-3 years of full-time job experience in business, media, and/or marketing communications.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, business communications, organizational communication, design, and/or marketing.
  • 3+ years of full-time job experience in business, healthcare, or scientific research employee communications.
  • Certification in digital content/digital communication (such as with PRSA), and/or storytelling (such as with IDEO or PRSA), and/or internal communications (such as with IABC or PRSA).

Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, produce and deliver accessible, audience focused, professional communications within brand guidelines and following a key message platform.
  • Develop and share a thorough knowledge of NMDPs culture, businesses, strategy and teams. Act as an ambassador of our employee value proposition and our organizational values.
  • Build and maintain highly effective working relationships with decision makers, audience representatives, peers, and influencers across the organization.
  • Track and measure communication effectiveness in pursuit of meeting goals and employee engagement needs and metrics.
  • Manage communication review and approval process to meet communication plan deadlines.
