About The Position

Position Summary: SBU Agents serve as the day-to-day contact for current clients as well as write new business for the agency. This involves working both individually and as a team to provide excellent customer service, on time renewals, and act as an extension of the client’s Human Resource Department. In this role you will learn and be responsible for understanding medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and flexible spending account benefits as well as pertinent federal and state regulations and compliance requirements affecting employee benefit programs (ERISA, ADA, SECTION 125, Workers Compensation, Medicare, etc.).

Requirements

  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Entry Level
  • Current license in Health and Life or willing to obtain licensure prior to the start of employment.
  • Ability to work onsite in a full-time or hybrid capacity (management discretion).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Warm, approachable, savvy, and empathetic.
  • Extremely strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to translate “technical speak” in a way that end users at all levels can understand.
  • High energy work ethic with ability to work independently while maintaining excellent customer relationships.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary service contact to all Employee Benefit SBU accounts.
  • Prepares and presents excel spreadsheets and word documents for reporting, plan renewals, and employee materials.
  • Market and negotiate new business and renewal proposals with insurance companies by initiating and following up on requests for quotes.
  • Maintains required data in the agency management system for employee enrollment management, policy tracking, reporting, and commissions.
  • Designs benefit guides and enrollment forms.
  • Consults on benefit plan offerings, plan designs, contributions, etc. with clients.
  • Presents capabilities presentations with prospective clients.
  • Presents employee open enrollment meetings if needed.
  • Assists clients with claims resolution.
  • Produces and distributes compliance documents.
  • Responsible for managing, maintaining and building their book of business.
  • Any other duties and tasks that are required by the Company.
