You’ll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation in a more connected, compassionate world. A Day in the Life At Medtronic, we bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we do. In-person exchanges are invaluable to our work. We’re working onsite 4 days a week as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary. This role requires an onsite presence supporting Medtronic’s manufacturing operations. The ideal location is Minneapolis, MN, but we are also open to other major campuses, including Boston, MA; Lafayette, CO; Tempe, AZ; Memphis, TN; Santa Ana, CA; and North Haven, CT. In this Employee & Labor Relations Director role, you will serve as a trusted partner and advisor to employees and all levels of management, providing guidance on a wide range of employee relations matters in alignment with Medtronic’s practices, policies, and local labor legislation. You’ll lead proactive workplace initiatives and strategies, conduct workplace investigations and internal reviews, and manage performance improvement and discipline processes, as well as end-of-employment situations, restructuring, labor relations, crisis management, coaching, and conflict resolution. Leveraging data and analytics, you’ll develop and execute employee and labor relations strategies to foster a positive work environment, address areas of opportunity, and minimize risk. You’ll play a key leadership role in restructuring initiatives, resulting in successful employee transitions. As people manager, you’ll provide motivational, thought, and technical leadership with significant autonomy, making strategic decisions that impact financial performance, employees, and the public image of the organization. You’ll be accountable for budget and P&L responsibilities, and drive innovation by improving processes, systems, products, and services within your business area. The challenges you’ll face are complex and require advanced problem-solving, analysis, and investigation. You’ll build and maintain strategic relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, regularly communicate and brief senior and executive leadership on operations and initiatives, and influence across functions to gain cooperation on operational matters. As a talent leader, you’ll direct and lead teams, determine supervisory relationships, create staffing plans, and have authority over hiring, firing, promotions, and rewards within your area.
