About The Position

The Emergency Vehicle Technician diagnoses malfunctions and repairs emergency vehicles; advises and trains lower grade workers on diagnosis and repair of less complex repair/maintenance problems; inspects and approves completed maintenance actions; and solves repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics, and technical publications. The Emergency Vehicle Technician uses automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends; analyze equipment requirements; maintain equipment records and document maintenance actions. The Emergency Vehicle Technician also analyzes, diagnoses, and repairs emergency vehicles and associated equipment using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools. Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have formal documented training and a minimum of five years of documented Ground Support Equipment repair experience.
  • Must have a valid state driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain licenses on military vehicles, both tactical and non-tactical.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Safety and OSHA Laws & Regulations.
  • Must be able to lift on an occasional basis a maximum of 70 pounds with frequent or constant lifting of 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb in and out of military vehicles and related equipment.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in cramped areas for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions to include intense heat, heavy wind, heavy rain, and snow or sleet.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty.
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.
  • Must provide a signed DD Form 3150 to confirm COVID-19 vaccination status and provide proof of vaccination.
