About The Position

East Campus Hospital: Urgent Care - Part-Time, Night Shift Job Summary: The Emergency Services Technician serves in a combination role and is competent to perform as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA), Telemetry Technician (TT) and/or a Unit Secretary (US) under the supervision of a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, and/or physician in a fast-paced emergency department of a tertiary care facility with level one trauma designation. Demonstrates flexibility and readily accepts changing assignments and job duties at the beginning and throughout the shift as requested, e.g., Telemetry Technician, Unit Secretary, Patient Care Assistant. Provides direct/indirect, age-specific and developmentally appropriate patient care as directed and seeks information and clarification of duties throughout shift as necessary. Utilizes effective interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care and professionalism. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of a basic arrhythmia and recognition course required.
• Completion of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program or completion of School of Nursing fundamentals required.
• Completion of Emergency Medical Technician program may be considered in lieu of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association required.
• Demonstrates competencies in fundamentals of patient care and knowledge of scope of practice for unlicensed healthcare team members.
• Able to read, write legibly and speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality
• Use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Outlook, organization electronic medical record
• Troubleshoot patient care equipment
• Perform basic non-licensed patient care activities

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of six months experience as Paramedic transport, telemetry technician, unit secretary or patient care assistant preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Emergency Medical Technician preferred.
• Spanish preferred
