About The Position

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Role Purpose Develop and maintain current, organizational Emergency Management Program in accordance with BJC, local, state, federal agency, accreditation requirements and organizational needs. Coordinate implementation of an all hazards emergency management program to prepare for and define actions in the event of an emergency situation to minimize interruption of services, restore services, functions and facilities as timely as possible. Continuously assess for effectiveness program related documentation, organizational structure and provide feedback for continous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and evaluate an emergency management system including healthcare disaster preparedness, response to events with the potential to interrupt hospital operations.
  • Manage the annual Hazardous Vulnerability Analysis (HVA) process for all licensed organizational facilities. Plan and execute exercises. Participate in state and regional emergency management planning meetings.
  • Support the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS), including regular incident command exercisers, providing education and training for affected staff, incident response including supporting Incident Commander during activation's.
  • Facilitate the formal post-event debrief process and creation of After Actions Reports (AARs). Manage completion of all action items identified in formal debrief process. Maintain documation for review upon request.
  • Manage Emergency Management and Incident Management Team meetings. Establish and maintain in accordance with federal, state and local agency and accreditation requirements emergency management/preparedness policies and procedures. Provide technical support, policy interpretation and guidance for department specific emergency plans.
