About The Position

The Emergency Preparedness Intern assists the Emergency Preparedness & Business Continuity Department in supporting and/or executing activities related to emergency events affecting the entire health system.

Requirements

  • A dependable, enthusiastic student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Emergency Management or similar field.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of HICS, ICS, and EOC functions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities at once, as well as demonstrate creativity, initiative, good judgment and communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Predictable and reliable attendance, with the ability to meet deadlines, work independently with moderate supervision and consistently demonstrate a positive “can do” attitude while maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.

  • Flexibility in scheduling to coordinate with fulfillment of credit hour obligations and requirements. Approximately 24-32 hours per week onsite to meet the needs of internship for credit. Flexible with days/hours as long as within timeframe of intern leader availability/supervision. Work is primarily onsite in Weymouth, MA

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the facilitation of actual events, drills, and exercises related to Business Continuity / Emergency Planning / Joint Commission and CMS yearly requirements.
  • Assist with post-event reporting, including report drafting, review and revisions.
  • Assist with the continuous improvement of the Resources & Asset Management System.
  • Assist with file management of training and exercises related documentation.
  • Attend training for safety awareness or skills improvement as requested by supervisor/s.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/s.
