Job Title: Emergency Medicine Physician Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Chalmette, LA Service Setting: Hospital Coverage Type: Clinical Only Coverage Period: April 30, 2026 – Ongoing Clinical Shift Schedule: Flexible shifts including 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 2:00 PM – 12:00 AM, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM COVERAGE DATES April 30, 2026 – Ongoing PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 79 patients per day (28,415 annual volume) Admissions: Yes (8.7% admission rate) Case Mix: Emergency Medicine with diverse acuity FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 10 ED beds EMR System: Ochsner Epic Office Equipment Available: Standard Emergency Department equipment Specialty Backup Available: Cardiology, Endocrinology, Pulmonary, Urology, Gastroenterology, ICU, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Radiology, General Surgery Support Staff Available: APP coverage (12 -hour shifts) Reason for Coverage: Supplemental Coverage PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Temporary Privileges Available: Yes (expedited for clean files) Credentialing Timeline: 30–60 days COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES Emergency patient evaluation and management Acute care stabilization Interpretation of diagnostic studies JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active LA license required Board: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine DEA: Required Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, PALS required if not ABEM certified Experience: Residency trained required Other Qualifications: Willingness to work both day and night shifts DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide emergency medical care to patients across varying acuity levels Manage patient flow and coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams Perform assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans Collaborate with support staff and specialists Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to facility protocols
Requirements
- Active LA license required
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine
- DEA: Required
- ACLS, ATLS, PALS required if not ABEM certified
- Residency trained required
- Willingness to work both day and night shifts
