Emergency Medicine Physician
About The Position
This is a Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine position in La Grange, KY, covering the Emergency Department at a hospital. The coverage type is clinical only, starting July 6, 2026, and is ongoing. Shifts are 12 hours, both days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) and nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM). The role involves treating patients of all ages, with an approximate volume of 42 patients per day (15K annual volume). Admissions and phone consults are included, and the case mix consists of general emergency medicine cases. The department has 14 ED beds and uses the Epic EMR system. Standard ED equipment is available. Specialty backup is limited, with no ENT, ophthalmology, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, dialysis, or pediatrics. APC support is available from 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Monday–Saturday). This position provides supplemental coverage.
Requirements
- Active KY license required
- Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM required)
- Active KY DEA required
- Must be comfortable with single physician coverage
Responsibilities
- Provide emergency department coverage for all patient presentations
- Manage patient care independently during shifts
- Collaborate with APC support staff during coverage hours
- Coordinate care with available specialty services
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic EMR
