About The Position
The Emergency Medical Technician performs and documents direct routine patient care under licensed provider's supervision according to hospitals guidelines.
Requirements
- Current Florida EMT license -OR- current Florida Paramedic license
- BLS from the American Heart Association
- Less than 1 of practical clinical experience.
- Knowledge of patient care and basic human needs within life span.
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques
- Knowledge of acute and chronic disease processes
- Knowledge of standard universal precautions
- Basic knowledge of anatomic structure and human body systems
- Ability to recognize obvious job-related emergencies
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to read and write in English
- Recognition of lethal EKG rhythms
- Performance of electrocardiograms
- IV insertion
- Urinary catheter insertion
- Gastric tube insertion
- Phlebotomy
- Basic wound care
- Splinting of musculoskeletal injuries
- Automatic External Defibrillator operation
- Chest compressions
- Eye irrigation
Nice To Haves
- 1 or more years previous experience in a health care environment.
