About The Position

Beyond core administrative functions, the Emergency Management Program Associate carries ongoing responsibility for program coordination, compliance support, and sustained operational readiness for the Emergency Management and Planning (EM&P) Department. The role contributes to the development, review, coordination, and maintenance of University Emergency Management plans, standard operating procedures, business continuity documentation, and after-action reports to ensure alignment with UNC policies, state and federal guidance, and recognized emergency management best practices. The position serves as the primary coordinator for departmental document management systems, maintaining authoritative electronic and hard-copy records to ensure accuracy, version control, regulatory compliance, and readiness for audits or emergency activations. The position actively participates and maintains comprehensive emergency coordination and preparedness records for EM&P, including contact information for designated University officials, ListServ distribution lists, assigned emergency roles, and required training credentials. Responsibilities include independently verifying data accuracy, identifying gaps in documentation or training compliance, and coordinating updates with campus partners to support effective emergency communication and coordination. The role also supports the department’s training and exercise program by contributing to the development and maintenance of training procedures, exercise documentation, participant materials, and post-exercise records, coordinating schedules, and ensuring documentation is complete and readily available to support continuous improvement in campus preparedness.
