About The Position

This position coordinates a variety of highly complex assignments within Weld County. The position requires a primary skill set in the use of information technology, emergency management principles, public speaking and community outreach, training and exercise development, organizational administration, disaster / recovery planning and project management. To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty satisfactorily.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Emergency Management and 5 years in emergency management.
Associate's Degree Emergency Management and 7 years in Emergency Management or Public safety field
5 years work experience in Emergency Management / Preparedness field or any equivalent combination of education and experience in emergency management; including strategic planning for disasters and other risks to the community, training and exercise development.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs.
Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with the public and personnel from all levels of local, state and federal jurisdictions is needed.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations and statutes.
The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers or the general public.
Ability to work under stressful conditions and long hours, nights and weekends.
A full understanding of the Emergency Planning Process and Emergency Plan development.
Experience with the incident command system (ICS) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
Candidate must pass criminal background check prior to employment start date.
Candidate must have a valid Driver’s License and Liability Insurance Upon Hire Required.
Candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) evaluation and if hired, will be subject to continuous monthly MVR monitoring and random drug screens throughout employment.
This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening.
Employment is contingent upon successfully passing the screening in accordance with Weld County policy.
