Requirements

Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Surgery
Fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care, Acute Care Surgery, or Trauma is ideal but not required
Minimum 3 years of independent Emergency General Surgery experience in a hospital setting required
NYS Medical License (or eligibility)
Demonstrated expertise in managing complex surgical emergencies
Passion for patient-centered, team-based care
Strong communication skills and clinical judgment under pressure
Commitment to education and professional growth

Nice To Haves

Fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care, Acute Care Surgery, or Trauma is ideal but not required

Responsibilities

Deliver urgent surgical care to patients presenting with acute conditions such as appendicitis, cholecystitis, pancreatitis, bowel obstruction, trauma, and more.
Work closely with a multidisciplinary team including anesthesiologists, emergency physicians, APPs, and nurses to deliver timely and coordinated care.
Utilize both open and minimally invasive techniques across a broad range of complex surgical conditions.
Participate in quality and safety initiatives aligned with RRH’s system goals and shared values.
Support the development of the upcoming General Surgery Residency by engaging in education and mentorship of residents and medical students.
Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to the academic growth of the department through teaching and collaboration.
