Refer patients to medical specialists, social services or other professionals as appropriate. Perform surgical procedures to prevent or correct injury, disease, deformities and patient function while adhering to regulator, ethical and surgical standards. Direct, coordinate, or supervise the patient care activities of nursing or support services. Write patient discharge summaries. Conduct discharge planning and discharge patients. Communicate with patients' primary care physicians upon hospital discharge to maintain continuity and quality of care. Prescribe medications or treatment regimens as appropriate. Order or interpret the results of tests such as laboratory tests and radiography (x-rays) and advanced imaging. Performs standard office duties, including excision, incision and drainage. Attend inpatient consultations in areas of specialty. Diagnose, treat, or provide continuous care to patients. Admit patients for hospital stays and surgical procedures. Participate in Medical Group meetings, Leadership meetings and Physician committees upon request. Other duties as assigned.
