We specialize in a rapid assessment and treatment of patients when every second counts, particularly during the initial phase of acute illness and trauma. The Barnes-Jewish Hospital Emergency Department is a Level I Trauma facility and a leader in disaster preparedness for the St. Louis region. No one shift is like the other; no one minute is like the next. Role Purpose Provides multi-skilled, direct patient care, under the direction and supervision of a registered professional nurse. This job requires completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent (fundamentals, foundations, or adult/peds health.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited ADN or BSN nursing school program
  • Completed nursing fundamentals or equivalent course
  • Two shifts every 6 weeks – rotating
  • Days 6am-6:30pm
  • Nights 6pm-6:30am
  • Holiday Rotation
  • Weekend Rotation
  • Enrolled-accredited RN program
  • No Experience

Responsibilities

  • Assists nurse with patient and family education.
  • Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology.
  • Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
  • Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
  • Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.
  • Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports abnormal findings to the nurse.
  • Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures.
