About The Position

As we continue our journey toward ZERO crashes, ZERO emissions, and ZERO congestion, we are seeking a driven and detail-oriented engineer to join our EMC Regulatory Vehicle Test Team. This hybrid role based in Milford, MI, offers a unique opportunity to work hands-on with cutting-edge vehicle technologies while ensuring compliance with global EMC regulatory requirements. As an EMC Regulatory Vehicle Test Fidelity Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring test vehicles are built, configured, and validated accurately to meet regulatory standards. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, validation, software, and operations teams, while also engaging directly with vehicles at the Milford Proving Grounds. If you enjoy a mix of technical problem-solving, hands-on vehicle work, and cross-team coordination, this role offers meaningful impact on the future of GM’s vehicle programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (with electrical background), Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of automotive electrical and electronics background
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems including capability to read and comprehend electrical and electronic schematics.
  • Knowledge and experience with serial data communication and tools including NeoVI Fire.
  • Knowledge and experience with test equipment tools including Oscilloscopes, Volt Meters, Power Supplies and Batter Testers.
  • Problem solving skills – both electrical and mechanical

  • Masters of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (with electrical background), Computer Engineering
  • 7+ years of automotive electrical and electronics background
  • Working knowledge of GM organizational structures and business processes
  • Knowledge of vehicle EMC concepts and test processes

Responsibilities

  • Participate in analysis of EMC regulatory test vehicle content with EMC Vehicle Test Engineers and the EMC Operations Manager to ensure that vehicle test mix/configuration is sufficient to meet all government regulations.
  • Coordinate with engineering operations including component Design Release Engineers (DRE), Program Execution Managers (PEM), Product Validation Engineers (PVE), Controller Integration Engineers (CIE), Vehicle Systems Engineers (VSE), Fleet Coordinators, and Software Release Planners to identify precise HW/SW/VeSCoM configurations needed for EMC vehicle testing, and to procure the HW/SW needed for vehicle retrofit/update in time to meet scheduled test windows.
  • Coordinate with GM garage facilities to ensure vehicle retrofits are completed in time for scheduled EMC vehicle test windows.
  • Perform hands-on vehicle hardware retrofits and SW reflash at local EMC test facility where possible.
  • Diagnose and remediate vehicle electrical system and SW performance issues.
  • Ensure vehicle test asset movement is accomplished in time for scheduled EMC vehicle test windows.
  • Perform vehicle test fidelity checkouts upon receipt of vehicle test property.
  • Create and maintain the EMC Test Vehicle Fidelity matrix.
  • Report status at weekly test scheduling meetings and at forums supporting the build and delivery of vehicle test assets.
  • Establish and maintain best practices for the EMC Regulatory Vehicle Test Fidelity Engineer role and fold into existing EMC ISO 17025 documentation where appropriate.
  • Primary work assignment located at Milford Proving Grounds.
