About The Position

As an Embedded Systems Engineer at HELGEN, you will drive the end-to-end development of category-defining hardware for global biosecurity. You will lead the architecture, prototyping, and iteration of low-power systems, integrating microfluidic and airflow subsystems into field-ready units. This is a high-stakes role requiring rapid iteration to fortify the future of humanity. Location: Remote (US/Germany/UK) Why this role is remarkable: Impact humanity’s future by building the critical infrastructure required for near-continuous biosurveillance and global biosecurity. Work in an aggressive, fast-paced environment where you can move from concept to field-ready hardware without the friction of traditional corporate engineering. Join an elite, early-stage team where you will shape technical strategy and have significant influence over the engineering culture.

Requirements

  • Possesses a strong background in embedded systems with specific expertise in rapid, low-power hardware design and prototyping.
  • Demonstrates hands-on experience with fluidic subsystems and physical assembly methods including tubing, fittings, and bonding.
  • Thrives in zero-to-one environments and ideally has experience with molecular diagnostic hardware or cartridge-style consumables.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the hardware architecture and rapid prototyping of low-power embedded systems from initial concept to deployable product.
  • Design and integrate complex microfluidic and airflow subsystems, utilizing hands-on techniques like 3D printing, laser cutting, and precision sealing.
  • Research technical literature to identify improvements in prior technologies and maintain robust documentation for all system requirements and testing.
