Department Overview We are seeking a Controls Engineering Intern to join our Code Architecture team. In this role, you will support the development of embedded control software and engineering tools used across our control systems. You will work closely with senior engineers to improve code structure, reliability, simulation capabilities, and automation within our controls stack.

Requirements

  • Currently a student earning a PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Must be graduating between spring 2026 and summer 2027
  • Bloom Energy is unable to provide VISA sponsorship to interns or new grad hires on an F-1, J-1 or other visa for this position, regardless of CPT or OPT status.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD preferred
  • Programming experience in C/C++, Python, and MATLAB
  • Basic understanding of control systems and/or embedded systems
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with attention to detail
  • Familiarity with Git and CI/CD tools

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement modular software components for embedded control systems
  • Contribute to the design and development of a Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL) simulation framework
  • Support development of internal tools and automation used by the Controls Engineering team
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and technical documentation
