About The Position

Oversee the integration of embedded software platforms for microgrid and distributed energy resource (DER) control systems. Integrate all software components, including user interface, historian, email notification service, alarm management, sequence of events service, reporting features, and related modules. Work with cross-functional teams to support communication between embedded systems and external services. Apply software architecture standards and integration protocols according to product requirements. Support ongoing improvements in system performance, reliability, and maintainability. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development and support teams. Ensure technology standards and non-functional requirements are met. Deliver a fully integrated and operational microgrid control platform with service interoperability. Maintain high system uptime, accurate event reporting, and effective alarm and notification systems. Facilitate collaboration among engineering, QA, and customer support teams. Experience integrating various software services into a single platform Ability to address integration issues involving both hardware and software components

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of embedded software development and integration experience
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in C/C++, and real-time operating systems (RTOS)
  • Minimum of 5 years experience industrial protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850
  • Candidate must reside within a 50 mile radius of Warrendale, PA in order to be considered

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 7+ years of embedded software development and integration experience
  • Experience with microgrid control platforms and Distributed Energy Resource (DER) systems
  • Proficiency with historian systems, alarm management, and event reporting tools
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity standards relevant to industrial control systems
  • Background working in Agile development environments
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a demonstrated ability to solve complex integration challenges
  • Experience in development with C# and/or Python
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional growth through certifications, workshops, or industry involvement
  • Understanding of cloud-based platforms for energy management and data analytics
  • Experience with simulation tools and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing environments
  • Ability to adapt quickly to evolving technologies and regulatory requirements in the energy sector
  • Experience in Linux/EdgeX and deploying microservices on Linux
