About The Position

Attalon is seeking an embedded electronics engineer to contribute to the development of advanced laser systems for defense applications. This is an excellent opportunity for an early career electrical/software engineer who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast paced and dynamic environment. You will help shape the development of next generation high power fiber lasers and amplifiers that incorporate emerging optical technologies and their supporting electronic systems, and you’ll provide hands-on support for deployed laser systems.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline with 0-2 years experience
  • Experience with PCB design, schematic capture, and layout
  • Hands on experience with prototyping, debugging, and testing embedded electronics
  • Experience with embedded programming in C

Nice To Haves

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline with 2-5 years experience
  • Familiarity with real time operating systems is a plus
  • Experience with Verilog or VHDL preferred; experience with Xilinx and Intel platforms is a plus
  • Experience with C# (.NET) and LabView is a plus
  • Experience with Altium Designer preferred
  • Experience with Microchip products preferred

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to both hardware and software development of electronic systems containing embedded microcontrollers and FPGAs, including schematic capture and PCB layout, and firmware development and debugging
  • Support prototyping and bring up of printed circuit boards, cable harnesses, and embedded hardware assemblies
  • Participate in testing and validation of new and existing electronics and software
  • Create documentation including test plans/test reports, design notes, manufacturing instructions, interface control documents, and operating instructions
  • Collaborate cross functionally to resolve issues during development, integration, transition to manufacturing, and field operation
  • Travel (<5%) for hands-on field support, conferences, etc. as required
