About The Position

The Email Marketing Specialist will support various aspects of email outreach campaigns, including delivery, content creation, building and maintaining templates, and tracking. The ideal candidate is a technically skilled and proactive person who will be our in-house email marketing platform expert for delivering actionable, personalized energy-efficiency content and insights directly to businesses to help them reduce their energy waste. A successful candidate enjoys problem solving, learning new systems, collaborating across teams, taking ownership to find or recommend the tools and processes needed to make a project successful, embodying a continuous improvement mindset.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related field (preferred). Certifications related to email marketing platforms.
  • Experience: 2-5 years in email marketing or a similar digital marketing role.
  • Email Marketing Platform experience: Proficient in OneSignal desired. Proficiency in other tools like Outreach.io, Mailchimp, HubSpot and ActiveCampaign is valued.
  • HTML, CSS and LiquidSyntax: Proficient with implementing email templates according to provided designs utilizing conditional logic, loops, variable parsing and more.
  • Campaign Strategy and Planning: Able to recommend and execute targeted email campaigns.
  • Segmentation and Personalization: Experience with audience targeting and crafting personalized messages.
  • A/B Testing and Optimization: Experience with testing and analyzing campaign performance for improvements.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Strong ability to track, analyze, and report on campaign metrics.
  • Copywriting and Content Creation: Possesses excellent writing skills for creating engaging and persuasive email content.
  • Design Fundamentals: Possesses basic design skills for creating visually appealing emails.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Familiar with email marketing laws like CAN-SPAM.
  • Project Management: Able to handle multiple campaign projects and meet deadlines.
  • Critical thinking: Able to identify questions and potential issues and opportunities early.
  • Proactive: Seeks solutions to problems and opportunities before they arise.
  • Attention to Detail: Precise in content, design, and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Administer email marketing and sales engagement platforms (e.g. Outreach.io, OneSignal)
  • Serve as an internal platform expert to assist the team with questions and problems
  • Manage the configuration of the email marketing platform to ensure email campaigns run smoothly
  • Maintain an active outreach calendar by managing the frequency of contact with customers
  • Act as a point of contact with the vendors of the email marketing softwares to stay informed about changes
  • Assist in selecting new email marketing platforms as company needs arise
  • Plan, create, test, and launch segmented email outreach campaigns
  • Plan: Understanding the scope and constraints of email campaigns and recommend detailed execution plans
  • Create: Draft email campaign templates, with automated input fields related to the personalization of emails from provided designs.
  • Test: Verify the correct configuration of email templates and associated inputs through robust testing
  • Execute fully automated (trigger) and semi-automated (drip) email campaigns using an email marketing platform, SQL queries, data filters, data extensions, templates, automation, etc.
  • Understand the data pipelines that affect email campaigns to be able to configure, test and execute email campaigns
  • The data pipeline for segmentation and personalization information could consist of information stored in different systems like the CRM, AWS cloud, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with the regulations for email campaigns and keeping up to date with the regulatory changes affecting the email outreach at Power TakeOff
  • In addition to regulatory compliance, ensuring email campaigns are set up in accordance with Power TakeOff’s contractual requirements for the DSM programs it administers
  • Analyze and report relevant metrics and campaign results to management to identify improvement opportunities and facilitate decision-making like deliverability rates, open rates, click rates, conversion rates and more
  • Create reports and presentations on email campaign performance
  • Communicate insights and suggestions to other teams
  • A/B test email content, send timing, and segmentation to ensure we land at the most effective email campaign strategies
  • Complete HTML coding/scripting when necessary to create adequate email body content
  • Provide input on effective language for high quality outreach content
