About The Position

The Email/CRM and Paid Media Manager at Portland Thorns FC is a pivotal role within the Digital Department, responsible for overseeing and executing all email, mobile, and paid media marketing campaigns. This position focuses on ensuring a seamless customer experience across multiple channels while collaborating with various internal teams to enhance customer engagement and drive marketing success.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in email/CRM and paid marketing or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of CRM and consumer engagement best practices across multiple platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise-level Email Service Providers (ESPs) and working within mobile marketing campaigns.
  • Experience with marketing automation platforms and customer data platforms (CDPs).
  • Familiarity with A/B testing and optimization techniques for email, mobile and paid media campaigns.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and other coding languages relevant to email and mobile marketing as well as proficiency in project management tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills with strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Solid understanding of sports fans and sports consumer behavior, with an applicable knowledge and interest in the growth of the sport.
  • Strong understanding of ad operations and ad buying platforms like Google Ads, Meta Ads, OOH and programmatic buying platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain customer contact and deployment calendars, collaborating with cross-functional teams to plan, execute, and wrap up all campaigns effectively.
  • Manage and execute technical systems related to email and digital channel marketing.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including Brand Marketing, Ticket Sales, Partnerships, and others, to develop and deploy sophisticated email and mobile journeys, automations, behavioral campaigns, transactional messages, and triggered campaigns.
  • Ensure the quality execution of campaigns while adhering to corporate policies, legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and departmental procedures.
  • Collaborate with developers and platforms to ensure accurate data is being gathered and deployed in internal communications.
  • Manage all aspects of the Thorns media buys, including developing, executing, and optimizing paid advertising campaigns across multiple channels and ad buying platforms.
  • Create comprehensive paid media strategies aligned with overall marketing goals and objectives.
  • Manage the paid media budget allocation across different platforms based on the marketing goals, objectives and consumer segments.
  • Implement audience targeting strategies, and set up tracking and conversion pixels to measure campaign performance.
