About The Position

The ELL Teacher provides direct instruction and learning support to English Learners (ELs) in the school environment in order to help them become productive citizens by increasing English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Requirements

Pennsylvania teaching certification in Elementary Education and/or content area
Pennsylvania teaching certification as a Program Specialist ESL PK-12 or Emergency Permit
Strong leadership and communication skills
Must be able to evaluate problems, prioritize work and determine solutions.
Positive interpersonal skills
Knowledge of GSuite Applications: Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.
Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced, changing environment
Demonstrate an ability to facilitate communication among administrators, staff, students, and parents
Must possess and maintain valid Pennsylvania school clearances.

Responsibilities

Plans, prepares, and delivers English language development (ELD) instruction to English Learners (ELs).
Collaborates with content area teachers on a consistent basis.
Assesses students’ needs and modifies instruction accordingly.
Screens Home Language Surveys.
Completes training for and administers specialized ESL assessments (ex. WIDA).
Forms and maintains relationships with students’ families, including parent interviews, phone calls and conferences.
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
Maintains EL student files and monitors former ELs.
Effectively incorporates technology to facilitate instruction.
Works closely with school leaders to analyze student assessment data.
Assesses the accomplishments of students and submits progress reports on a quarterly basis.
Attends IEP, or other related meetings necessary for student assessment and/or compliance with federal and/or state law.
Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in developing, evaluating, and revising school programs.
Prepare reports on students and activities as required by the administration.
Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
Attend staff meetings, and have the opportunity to serve on committees.
Sponsor extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests.
Adhere to Professional Standard of Conduct, including confidentiality, code of ethics, and appropriate internet use, as outlined in the Policy and Procedures manual and Staff Handbook.
Follow all approved board of trustee policies, including Financial and Purchasing, Attendance, RtII, and Curriculum Implementation.
Perform administrative duties such as assisting the school media center, hall, cafeteria monitoring, and bus loading and unloading.
Complete school-mandated technology PD hours.
Perform all additional related duties and responsibilities as designated by the Local Administration, CEO, or Network Team.
