About The Position

This position is located in Winchester, IN, within the FSSA/Division of Family Resources (DFR) as an Eligibility Specialist. The role involves assisting Indiana residents with applications for public assistance programs such as TANF (cash assistance), SNAP, and Medicaid. The DFR is responsible for determining eligibility for individuals applying for and/or receiving public assistance. Eligibility Specialists process new applications and documents for ongoing public assistance. Nice To Haves

  • Previous Case Manager experience
  • Bachelor or Associate degree in Counseling or Social Services
  • 2 years’ experience in a social service environment, state or local government pertaining to employment / training programs
  • Previous experience as a Case Manager, Eligibility Specialist, Eligibility Associate, Office Manager, Call Center Customer Service Specialist, or Client Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Gather data for all relevant assistance programs either face-to-face or via phone with clients
  • Verify all information is gathered accurately and meets state policies
  • Obtain release forms and medical records as needed
  • Verify income, assets, and other financial / legal documents
  • Review regulations and program requirements with clients
  • Utilize automated program to determine eligibility of state assistance programs
  • Data entry into state database
  • Respond to all inquiries in a timely manner via phone or email
