About The Position

RahrBSG is looking for a Elevator Relief Supervisor to join our team in Shakopee, MN. The Elevator Relief Supervisor is an entry-level supervisory role that provides frontline operational leadership and relief coverage across barley and malt elevator operations. This position ensures safe, efficient, and compliant daily operations by supervising hourly employees during assigned shifts, covering staffing gaps, peak periods, and emergency situations. The role supports senior leadership through operational oversight, safety and sanitation support, and participation in continuous improvement efforts that promote consistency, compliance, and operational resiliency across locations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years of experience in grain elevator operations, agricultural operations, or related industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of elevator, grain handling, and food safety processes.
  • Willingness to learn complex elevator, grain handling, and food safety processes.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and communicate effectively with hourly employees.
  • Proven ability to delegate work assignments by matching the responsibility to the correct executor, setting clear expectations, monitoring delegated activities, and providing recognition for results.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and escalate appropriately.
  • Strong time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure and within respective deadlines.
  • Demonstrated responsiveness and reaction with appropriate urgency to situations and events.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn operational systems (ie: inventory or ERP tools).
  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail, with a proven track record of enhancing and upholding quality standards both independently and while leading teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in grain handling, manufacturing, food production, agriculture, or industrial operations preferred.
  • Previous experience leading teams or serving as a lead/operator is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day supervisor of elevator operations during assigned shifts, including receiving, storage, handling, and shipment of barley and malt products.
  • Serve as relief supervisor during vacations, off-shifts, peak seasons, or staffing gaps to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Support grain receiving, storage, handling, blending, and shipping activities for both barley and malt elevators
  • Monitor operational flow, staffing needs, and equipment usage, escalating issues as needed.
  • Ensure accurate completion of operational logs, reports, and inventory-related documentation.
  • Lead and monitor sanitation programs to maintain facility cleanliness, pest control standards, and audit readiness.
  • Enforce all company safety programs, OSHA requirements, and safe work practices.
  • Lead or support pre-shift safety meetings and reinforce hazard awareness in elevator environments.
  • Support compliance with FDA, state, city, and company food safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Reinforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), housekeeping standards, and pest control programs.
  • Identify safety, quality, or environmental risks and escalate concerns to senior leadership.
  • Monitor incoming and stored barley and malt for quality concerns and reports findings to management.
  • Support inventory accuracy and proper handling practices to maintain product integrity.
  • Reinforce proper segregation, labeling, and handling of varieties and product types.
  • Assist with coordination between elevator operations and production or logistics teams to support timely production and shipment needs.
  • Provide daily direction and oversight to hourly elevator employees.
  • Support onboarding and training of employees on operating procedures, safety requirements, and equipment use.
  • Reinforce attendance, performance, and behavioral expectations in alignment with company policies and labor agreements.
  • Escalate employee relations issues, disciplinary matters, or performance concerns to senior management.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to report equipment issues and support timely repairs.
  • Reinforce proper equipment use and basic preventive maintenance practices.
  • Support maintenance-related safety and housekeeping standards within the elevators.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for improving safety, efficiency, quality, and housekeeping.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives led by senior leadership.
  • Learn and develop working knowledge of barley and malt elevator operations, inventory management, and logistics coordination.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the company and its operational needs.
