About The Position

At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in San Rafael, CA! If you're committed to making a difference in the lives of students with special needs and helping them achieve academic success, we want to hear from you! As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in San Rafael, CA!

Requirements

• Experience working with students with autism, ADHD, and diverse learning profiles
• Strong background in foundational literacy, including reading comprehension support
• Experience teaching foundational math skills and supporting problem-solving
• Ability to support comprehension across multiple content areas
• Familiarity with Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies
• Skilled in breaking down complex concepts into simple, manageable steps
• Patient, flexible, and able to support students with slow processing speed
• Engaging and supportive, with the ability to build confidence and reduce frustration

Nice To Haves

• Understanding of gestalt language processing and hyperlexia preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy, with an emphasis on reading comprehension
• Support math development, including arithmetic and understanding story problems
• Break down complex academic tasks into clear, step-by-step instruction
• Reinforce comprehension across subjects using visuals, discussion, and guided practice
• Incorporate strategies aligned with gestalt language processing and hyperlexic learning styles
• Support social-emotional learning, including frustration tolerance and confidence-building
• Implement structured sessions with predictable routines and pacing that supports processing needs
• Provide patient guidance and encouragement during moments of frustration
• Help prevent learning gaps by reinforcing grade-level concepts at an accessible level
• Monitor progress and adjust instruction based on student needs
• Maintain a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment
• Communicate regularly with caregivers regarding progress and strategies
