About The Position

Develop and implement enrichment and extensions for K-5 science standards including components such as: inquiry, technology, outdoor learning and/or engineering collaboratively with teachers. Collaborate and communicate with grade level teams and other building specialists to support science content and integration into curriculum. Collaborate with staff and students to integrate instruction grounded in inquiry, design, art and STEM themes within the K-5 curriculum Model instructional methods and strategies with students and staff Maintain community outreach by organizing community events related to inquiry thinking design, art integration and STEM Partner with school community and staff to deepen magnet theme integration throughout the school Research and develop learning opportunities for staff and students related to inquiry, design, engineering, arts and science themes Inventory and maintain grant funded technology equipment to support programming Develop and coordinate learning opportunities integrating technology into inquiry, design, engineering, arts and science themes including school wide community events Provide professional development around inquiry, design thinking, engineering, arts and science themes through formal and informal formats Actively seek additional funding and grants to support magnet programming in partnership with community organizations and resources Share current and past projects, curriculum and best practices to audiences outside of elementary school through formal and informal formats using action research Participate in a professional community of practitioners in similar fields or roles to enhance and continually develop experiences for students

Requirements

  • Licensed by the state of Minnesota to teach elementary education and K-12 Computer Keyboarding and Technology.
  • Strong general academic background.
  • Ability to relate positively to students, staff, and community.
  • A clear understanding of the integrated relationship of the STEM components (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
  • Evidence of design-thinking and the engineering process as it applies to student learning and classroom activities.
  • Evidence of productive experience with problem-based and project-based learning.
  • Successful ability to manage students in classroom, lab and outdoor settings.
