Under direction, you will teach and instruct students in grade K-5, in academic, social, behavioral, and other related skill areas. The role involves planning, developing, organizing, and conducting a comprehensive education program for elementary grade students. It also includes supporting students, parents, and others in assisting students in adjusting to a structured educational environment, and creating and maintaining an environment that fosters student achievement and the development of lifelong skills. The position aims to maximize opportunities for student success by creating positive working relationships with students and staff, actively participating in the establishment of policies and procedures, and remaining flexible, innovative, and adaptive to change. Teachers are expected to show confidence in working with new technology and various application packages and to be a role model for students regarding life-long learning and professional behavior.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in elementary education, instructional technology, a subject matter commonly taught in the elementary grades, or closely related field
  • Successfully completed student teaching at an accredited college or university
  • Obtained a license as an elementary teacher
  • Creative thinker and problem solver, an excellent communicator with strong collaboration skills and are a team player
  • Demonstrate proficient use of technology
  • Knowledge of the principles, theories, methods, techniques, and strategies pertaining to teaching and instruction of elementary grade pupils, and child growth and development and behavior characteristics of the elementary grade child
  • An understanding of educational curriculum and instructional goals and objectives, and the educational trends and research findings pertaining to early childhood educational programming
  • Possess an understanding of behavior management and behavior shaping strategies, techniques and methods, and conflict resolution procedures
  • Understand the socio-economic and cultural background differences of the general school population

Responsibilities
