About The Position

The Reynoldsburg City Schools’ Summer School Elementary Teacher is responsible for providing targeted academic intervention and enrichment to elementary students. This role focuses on closing achievement gaps through data-driven instruction aligned with Ohio’s Learning Standards and the OTES 2.0 framework, ensuring a supportive and productive summer learning environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education or related field.
  • Valid Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Teaching License (e.g., P-3, K-3, or 1-8).
  • Proficiency in digital learning tools, including Google Classroom, Google Meet, and Zoom.
  • Successful completion of BCI/FBI background checks.
  • Knowledge of Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES 2.0) standards and rubrics.
  • Knowledge of Ohio Learning Standards for Elementary Language Arts and Mathematics.
  • Knowledge of Instructional management systems and virtual learning platforms.
  • Knowledge of Effective classroom management and student engagement techniques.
  • Skilled in Multi-tasking and organizing teaching strategies to maximize instructional time.
  • Skilled in Facilitating virtual hangouts and digital collaborative spaces.
  • Skilled in Differentiating instruction for diverse learners and intervention groups.
  • Ability to Interpret and implement district-adopted curricula with fidelity.
  • Ability to Build rapid, positive rapport with students during a short-term program.
  • Ability to Work collaboratively with the Summer School Principal and fellow staff members.

Nice To Haves

  • Reading Endorsement or specialized training in the Science of Reading.
  • Experience in summer learning loss prevention or credit recovery.
  • Proven track record of improving student literacy or numeracy outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Plans ambitious, standards-based lessons that connect to students’ prior knowledge.
  • Incorporates Knowledge of Students by tailoring instruction to individual developmental and cultural needs.
  • Utilizes a variety of instructional strategies to keep students engaged in both physical and virtual settings.
  • Uses appropriate technology (Google Suite, Zoom) to enhance instruction and maintain communication.
  • Employs content scope and sequence to ensure all summer learning objectives are met within the condensed timeframe.
  • Monitors student progress toward mastery of instructional goals and objectives daily.
  • Uses formative and summative assessments to provide immediate feedback to students and parents.
  • Maintains accurate and complete student records, including attendance and grading, in compliance with district policy.
  • Establishes a classroom climate conducive to learning that reflects high positive expectations for student performance.
  • Follows established school-wide discipline procedures and PBIS frameworks.
  • Creates an environment that accommodates individual learning differences and encourages attendance.
  • Communicates effectively and regularly with the educational community and parents regarding student work and behavior.
  • Adheres to established laws, policies, and regulations, including FERPA and student confidentiality.
  • Participates in the required planning session on June 1 and remains punctual for all instructional hours (7:30 am to 12:30 pm).
