About The Position

To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The teacher is responsible for growth in student learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate
  • Any additional certifications/qualifications specified by the Louisiana Standards for State Certification of School Personnel Bulletin 746

Responsibilities

  • Establish learning objectives with written lesson plans.
  • Teach effectively using various techniques and curriculum materials.
  • Differentiate assignments to meet individual needs.
  • Evaluate pupil learning frequently.
  • Provide for individual differences through grouping and individualized instruction.
  • Maintain a conducive learning atmosphere.
  • Demonstrate understanding of child growth and development.
  • Exhibit knowledge of subject matter and curriculum objectives.
  • Maintain control and promote self-discipline.
  • Use orderly procedures for classroom control.
  • Follow school and Rapides Parish School Board rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to time and duty schedules.
  • Sign in and out of school.
  • Be in the assigned classroom when the class period begins.
  • Remain at school during the school day unless permission is obtained.
  • Attend administrative and professional meetings.
  • Notify the Principal in case of absence.
  • Follow guidelines set forth by the Rapides Parish School Board staff.
  • Maintain an attractive and clean classroom.
  • Account for and care for textbooks, furniture, equipment, and instructional materials.
  • Complete required records and reports accurately and on time.
  • Be responsible for field trips.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm and self-confidence.
  • Maintain good public relations with parents.
  • Be ethical in contacts with parents, professionals, and pupils.
  • Participate in in-service programs and professional development.
  • Be loyal to the school system administration.
  • Establish and execute a professional growth and self-evaluation plan.
  • Carry out Performance Expectations and Indicators for Teachers in the NIET rubric.
  • Observe standards of conduct inside and outside of school.
  • Set a good example for pupils by dressing appropriately.
  • Use appropriate language.
  • Maintain self-control and poise.
  • Maintain good general health.
  • Enunciate clearly and use good English.
  • Demonstrate ability to adjust to new situations.
  • Accept responsibility and meet obligations on time.
  • Be in attendance at work except for illness or emergency.

  • Attend meetings generally associated with the instruction of students
