Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Currently possesses a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License
  • Ability to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement (Math Specialist) as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board
  • Five (5) years of recent, full-time and successful teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Administration, Staff, and the Supervisor of Teaching and Learning in the development and implementation of programs and strategies for the improvement of student achievement in mathematics.
  • Provides leadership and support to appropriate teachers and paraprofessionals to increase their content knowledge in mathematics and to teach new instructional strategies through collaboration with teachers through coaching cycles and modeling lessons in teacher's classrooms (to include ELLs, Special Education, and inclusion classes).
  • Collaborates with teachers and Professional Learning Committees (PLCs) to develop and improve mathematics curriculum.
  • Develops and facilitates ongoing professional development opportunities for teachers.
  • Plans and coordinates the implementation of opportunities for school-based family engagement in mathematics (i.e. STEAM Night, Math night, etc.).
